HONEY ISLAND SHOOTING RANGE OF SLIDELL, LA AND THE
SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI GUN CLUB

Our non-profit organizations are conducting the
following program as a public service. The DCM-CMP has trained and
distributed surplus rifled arms to qualified civilians since 1903. The
purpose of the clinic is to the increase proficiency and safety with firearms
in our community. The Clinic is open to the public.
The M1 Garand Clinic will be held on May 31, 2004, at
the Honey Island Shooting Range near Slidell, Louisiana. There will be a
45 shooter limit at the range. All shooters MUST be pre-registered by
mail. Shooters must be at the range at 8:00AM for sign-in. Information and
a Clinic application are available at www.honeyisland.org or applicant can
call 601-249-3315 for an application sent by US Mail. To be eligible to
buy an M1 Rifle, All applicants should be a United States Citizen, 18
years of age or older and able to legally own firearms
This is a Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)
sanctioned M1 Garand Rifle and Carbine Clinic. Participation in the Clinic
meets the shooting qualification to buy M1 Garand Rifles from the CMP. We
will have NRA Instructors and Coaches at the range to teach the following
concerning the M1 Rifle and Carbine:
1. Range safety procedures.
2. How to operate the rifle and/or carbine
3. Rifle shooting positions.
4. Use of the sling in position shooting.
5. Proper use of the sights.
6. Techniques in shooting slow and rapid fire with the
rifles.
7. Disassembly and reassembly of the rifle and carbine.
8. Proper maintenance.
9. What ammunition is correct to use in the rifles.
10 Proper reloading information for the M1 rifle and
carbine.
11. Continuing marksmanship programs available for the
M1 rifle and carbine.
12. Additional information about other firearms
available from the CMP.
The fee for the Clinic is $35.00. This includes the use
of an M1 rifle or carbine, instruction, 56 rounds of .30 M2 rifle or .30
M1 Carbine ammo, a CMP Patch, application for ordering an M1 rifle and
information on club membership for the Southwest Mississippi Gun Club,
Louisiana Shooting Association, Mississippi State Firearm Owners
Association, and the National Rifle Association.
