2004 MISSISSIPPI HIGHPOWER RIFLE

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

SPONSOR: Mississippi State Firearm Owners Association

LOCATION: Pascagoula CMP Club range at Pecan, MS, 6 miles east of Pascagoula.

INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIP: October 9, 2004

RULES: Current NRA Highpower rules shall govern the match.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all NRA and MSFOA members and State Association members from other states.

CLASSIFICATION: The current NRA classification system will be used.

Make checks payable to MSFOA. Note: range capacity is limited to 70 competitors, so register early.

ENTRY FEES: $50.00 - adults; $25.00 - juniors. Entry fee includes the price of a cookout after the match and a t-shirt. Please send t-shirt size with registration.

RIFLES: NRA Match Rifles or Service Rifles (rules 3.3, 3.1, 3.1.1, 3.1.2).

COURSE OF FIRE: Regional Match Course, 80 shot:

Match 1 - 2 sighters and 20 shots for record, slow fire, standing, 200 yards, SR target.

Match 2 - 2 sighters and 20 shots for record, rapid fire, sitting, 200 yards, SR target.

Match 3 - 2 sighters and 20 shots for record, rapid fire, prone, 300 yards, SR target.

Match 4 - 2 sighters and 20 shots for record, slow fire, prone, 600 yards, MR-1 target.

Match 5 - Slow fire aggregate of matches 1 & 4.

Match 6 - Rapid fire aggregate of matches 2 & 3.

Match 7 - Individual State Championship,  aggregate of matches 1, 2, 3, and 4.

TIME: Match will begin at 9:00 a.m.

CATEGORIES AND CLASSES: Separate awards for service rifle and match rifle.

AWARDS: The Jerry Dykes Trophy will be awarded to the top resident competitor in Match 7. The Pine Belt Trophy will be awarded to the top service rifle competitor in Match 7. The Gail Bahr Trophy will be awarded to   the top match rifle competitor in Match 7. All other winners will receive NRA award points, which will be given for each 5 competitors in each class. Classifications with less than 5 competitors will be placed in the next higher class.

FOUR MAN PAPER TEAM MATCH: October 9, 2004

COURSE OF FIRE: Same as for the Individual Championship. Team scores will be taken from individual scores fired in the Individual Championship.

ENTRIES: Each 4-man team must be designated prior to the start of the match. Each team captain is responsible for registering his team no later than 30 minutes before the start of the match.

ENTRY FEE: $10.00 per team.

RIFLES: match and service rifles may be mixed within teams.

AWARDS: The winning team will receive cash awards.

LEG MATCH AND DIRECTOR’S MATCH:  October 10, 2004

COURSE OF FIRE: National Match Course:

10 shots for record, slow fire, standing, 200 yards, SR target.

10 shots for record, rapid fire, sitting, 200 yards, SR target.

10 shots for record, rapid fire, prone, 300 yards, SR target.

20 shots for record, slow fire, prone, 600 yards, MR-1 target.

No sighting shots will be allowed in this match.

TIME: Firing will begin at 9:00 a.m.

ELIGILIBILITY: Any competitor age 16 or older and a U.S. citizen.

ENTRY FEE: Fifteen dollars per competitor.

RIFLES: M1, M14, M1A, M16, AR15 Service Rifles per CMP regulation AR920/30. Competitors entered in the concurrent practice only portion of the match may use a match rifle. Those doing so will be awarded separately from leg match participants. Only scores from leg match participants will be turned in to CMP.

AMMUNITION: Provided by competitor consistent with CMP regulation AR920/30.

AWARDS: Issued by CMP for leg match participants and by MSFOA for practice match awardees. The Wayne Myers Trophy will be awarded by MSFOA to the leg match winner.

LONG RANGE CHAMPIONSHIP:  October 10, 2004 immediately following the leg match.

COURSE OF FIRE:  2 sighters and 20 shots for record at 600 yards in 22 minutes, MR-1 target; unlimited sighters and 20 shots for record at 1000 yards in 30 minutes, LR target.

RIFLES: NRA Match Rifles or Service Rifles (rules 3.3, 3.1, 3.1.1, 3.1.2). Scopes allowed.

RULES: Current NRA Highpower rules shall govern the match.

ENTRY FEE: $10.00.

AWARDS: Cash awards by class (one award per 3 competitors per class) and an overall winner plaque issued 

by MSFOA.

PRACTICE SESSION:  October 8, 2004 - the range will be open at noon Friday for those competitors wanting last-minute practice, zero confirmation, etc.
